Welcome to Petaluma

Old farming community meets upscale dining.

Situated in Sonoma County, the city of Petaluma is part of the North Bay subregion of the San Francisco Bay area. Although it’s closer to the Central Valley, you can still tell people you’re from the Bay Area. Go, Giants!

The architecture is cinematic. It will make you feel as if you’re living in the middle of your favorite movie (and you’re the star!). The homes are upscale suburban, so they maintain elements of modesty and refinement. This picturesque community is a complementary blend of urban and country—the best of both worlds. With metropolitan San Francisco just a commute away from humble Petaluma, this community is great for city boys and small-town girls.

Upscale dining in Petaluma is both fresh and authentic. Enjoy some old- school Italian dishes at Cucina Paradiso, along with its wide selection of wines. It’s affordable and classy. What more could you want in an Italian restaurant? If you’re more into brews than wines, try Brewsters Beer Garden. Located in Petaluma’s historic district, this beer garden has laid-back, open-air dining with Southern Carolina BBQ-inspired dishes and a selection of craft beers. It’s family friendly and provides a good time for everyone. If you are looking for simple, tasty food, Old Chicago Pizza is the ticket. Order in or take out—either way, who doesn’t like delicious pizza?

Downtown Petaluma is the place to be. Every spring, the Butter and Eggs Parade and Festival comes to town, welcoming agricultural and food producers, breweries and distilleries, and nonprofit organizations. It’s an egg-mazing festival! If you’re a sucker for live music, check out the shows at McNears Mystic Theater, a renovated 1911 vaudeville theater. When the holidays come around, take in the festivities with Santa’s Riverboat Arrival. Just the thing for kids and those who still believe in Santa (he’s real, and he’s arriving in Petaluma!). For those who like the adventure that nature has to offer, Tolay Regional Park has over 11 miles of hiking trails and is home to Tolay Creek watershed. There’s a variety of things to do around Petaluma that bring urban and country elements together.

To get a feel for the education in the area, visit St. Vincent de Paul High School, a Catholic college prep school that offers students AP and honors classes.
